Snorkelling and Diving
Port Antonio’s crystal-clear, serene water offer numerous spots for snorkelling and has the most diverse diving opportunities in Jamaica. San San Beach is recommended for snorkelling with its shallow and protected waters that are frequented by an abundance of tropical fish.
You can snorkel around Pelew Island and also at Winifred Beach. The small public beach in the village of Drapers is another great snorkelling location.
Divers will enjoy the area’s extensive coral reefs and ocean walls stretching eight miles. Two of the most notable dive sites off Port Antonio’s coast include Alligator Head and Fairy Hill Bank. Walls, ledges, swim-through caves, reef outcroppings and an array of sea life can be enjoyed. Not every day, but turtles, sharks, rays, dolphins, and manatees can be spotted on a dive.
Lady G’Diver is a PADI station with years of experience of diving around Port Antonio and can accommodate beginners looking for perfect “schoolroom” sites as well as experienced divers across their 18 dive sites. Located at the Marina, they offer snorkelling and diving excursions complete with equipment and instructors. For more information visit their official website
