Hotel Mocking bird Hill has achieved another step in its efforts towards improving levels of self-sufficiency and sustainability which we believe coincides perfectly for the UN talks in Cophengan on climate change to be held in December.
We’d like to say to all world leaders look at our small example in Jamaica – no matter how small or large the business, no matter its location whether in a developed or developing country, it IS possible for all businesses to reduce their carbon footprint without a loss at the end of the financial year.
The actual initial investment in renewable energy & rainwater harvesting capacity is high, however here at Hotel Mockingbird Hill we have worked towards our targets of carbon & water neutrality steadily in sustainable phases.
With a final push & the assistance of the Caribbean Export Development Agency & the EU we are proud to report the addition of another 12,000 gallons (43,423 litres) of rainwater harvesting, this brings our total capacity to 65,000 gallons (246,052 litres).
