Jamaica’s world famous eco-chic boutique Hotel Mockingbird Hill was created by Jamaican artist Barbara Walker and Indian hotelier Shireen Aga who have been friends for many years.
Together Barbara & Shireen have demonstrated that a small property can achieve international recognition and provide a leadership role in the community:

- 1st Jamaican hotel to have a carbon offsetting program
- 1st Jamaican restaurant to schedule Meatless Monday
Barbara Walker
Co-owner Barbara Walker is a widely exhibited artist. It is her goal to bring visitors into contact with the Jamaican arts which is much richer than reggae culture alone. Gallery Carriacou was built adjacent to the hotel to provide an inspiring insight into Jamaican art, exhibiting her own sculptures and paintings alongside works by other noted artists.
Shireen Aga
Co-owner Shireen Aga studied environmentally friendly tourism and hotel management in Bonn, Germany and is a qualified trainer. The value of sound environmental policies in hotels as well as at home, expounding the long-term rewards, including financial savings are just some of the topics she gives seminars on within the country.
